Film Critique

The Eye is a horror movie. It's about a woman who has an eye transplant that allows her to see into the supernatural world.

It stars Jessica Alba who plays a part of a woman, Sydney Wells, who has been blind since the age of 5 and undergoes a cornea transplant. But when the bandages come off she sees all kinds of strange things and thinks she’s going mad. For example she sees dead people and grim reapers because for some reason the person whose eyes they belonged to before saw these things as well.

Apart from Jessica Alba none of the other actors are well known. I think her acting was effective because I believed that all these things were really happening to her and was absolutely petrified sitting underneath my seat. However, what I didn’t believe is how come she could hear the ghosts as well as see them just because of her eye transplant. That didn’t make sense.

As all horror movies this film has you sitting on the edge of your seat. However, if, like me, you don’t like to feel constantly nervous then you would be well advised not to go and watch it.

The special effects in the movie made all the visions that she was seeing seem real and each time they appeared, they jumped out at you. This was further exaggerated by the music.
